About

Internist, nephrology specialist and clinical teacher

Dr. Mohammad Anwar Habib is Professor of Medicine at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR), Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. He completed his MBBS in 1994 and his MD in Internal Medicine in 1998, both from J.N. Medical College, A.M.U., Aligarh, and has practised medicine continuously since: more than 27 years across cardiology, intensive care, nephrology and general internal medicine.

His formation is unusually broad for an internist. He trained first in cardiology as Senior Resident at Batra Hospital, New Delhi, working hands-on in the CCU with TMT, ECHO, Holter monitoring and coronary angiography; then spent three years running the ICU and medicine wards at Majeedia Hospital, Jamia Hamdard. From 2002 to 2010 he served as Consultant in Medicine and In-charge of the Dialysis Unit, eight years at the sharp end of renal replacement therapy, while coordinating the Diploma in Dialysis course.

His research runs to 39 publications in national and international journals, concentrated where metabolic disease meets organ damage: diabetic kidney disease biomarkers and prevalence, anaemia and quality of life in diabetic kidney disease, haematological change in chronic renal failure, and the safety of agents from SGLT-2 inhibitors to warfarin in renal populations.

His role at Joovik

Bringing rigorous medicine to everyday health

As a Medical Adviser on the JOOVIK Medical Advisory Panel, Dr. Habib brings a perspective earned over eight years running a dialysis unit and more than two decades treating the downstream consequences of diabetes and hypertension. His research sits precisely where metabolic disease becomes organ damage: diabetic kidney disease, neuropathy, anaemia and the quality of life of patients who reach renal failure. That vantage point shapes JOOVIK's approach to long-term monitoring, complication prevention and clinical governance: a member's progress is measured not only by weight or a glucose reading, but by the kidneys, nerves and heart those numbers are there to protect.

“Metabolic health is never about one number. Blood sugar, blood pressure, the kidneys, the heart, the nerves, sleep and the mind all move together, and a person is well only when the whole system is well. Treat the patient early and treat them entire, and most of what I see later in life need never happen at all.”

Professor of Obs & Gynae; women's health leader

Dr. Aruna Nigam is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and former Head of the Department at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR), Delhi. She serves as President of the Indian Society of Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology and President of NARCHI Delhi, and joins the Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for 2026-27, national offices that place her at the centre of how women's health is practised and taught in India.

Her research record is exceptional: more than 250 publications, over 4,800 citations, an h-index of 24 and an i10-index of 48. Her role at Joovik

Putting women's health at the centre of lifelong care

As a Medical Adviser on the Joovik Medical Advisory Panel, Dr. Nigam brings national leadership in women's health to the way we design care. Her work spans the moments where a woman's metabolic health is decided: high-risk pregnancy, the years that follow it, and the screening that catches disease before it declares itself. That perspective shapes Joovik's clinical governance and protocols, and grounds our conviction that a woman's health deserves to be followed across a lifetime, not treated one episode at a time.

“A woman's health is never a single episode. What happens in pregnancy echoes for decades, in her heart, her metabolism, her risk of disease long after. Care that follows her across a lifetime, and teaches her what to watch for, is worth more than any treatment given too late.”
