Common questions
Why are my joints stiff in the morning?
Morning stiffness is common and usually eases once you get moving in the first half hour. If it lasts more than an hour, or comes with swelling and heat, that's worth raising with a doctor.
Which exercises are safe for sore joints?
Low-impact work is the usual starting point: walking, swimming, cycling, and slow strength through a comfortable range. Sharp or lingering pain is a stop signal.
Should I use heat or ice?
Ice tends to suit fresh flare-ups and swelling; heat tends to suit stiffness before you move. Try each and see which actually helps you.
Can losing weight ease my joints?
For weight-bearing joints like knees and hips, less load generally means less strain, and many people do notice a difference.
